The Master of Science in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies (MSc NRES) is a specialized program offered by the Faculty of Environment at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). This program is tailored for candidates with a scientific focus, particularly those from disciplines such as biology, forestry, environmental science, and physical geography.   • Methods Course: 3 credit hours
  • Elective Courses: 6 credit hours
  • MSc Thesis: 12 credit hours
  • Total Required: 25 credit hours

Students are required to complete Graduate Colloquia (NRES 701-0.5) twice during their studies and must select from various areas of study, including Biology, Environmental Science, Forestry, Geography, and Outdoor Recreation, Conservation, and Tourism. The program also emphasizes the completion of a research thesis, which involves making a scientific contribution to the field. Students will work closely with a supervisory committee to ensure appropriate course selection and to guide their research efforts.
