Academic Requirements

For students interested in the Bachelor of Science - Computer Science (Honours) (co-op) program, the following Academic Requirements apply:

• Minimum GPA: A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required for admission.
• International Students: Specific requirements for international students include:
• For students from Vietnam, a minimum average of 7.0 in Grade 12 (only academic courses are taken into average calculation) is required.
• English language proficiency test results are normally required for direct admission to undergraduate studies. However, students in the CBSE curriculum are exempted from providing English Language Proficiency test.
• Application and Document Requirements:
• Use OUAC 105 or Trent direct application.
• Submit a secondary school in-progress or, if completed, final transcript. Normally, an in-progress transcript must include Grade 12, 1st term results.
• Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
• Should you receive an admission offer and decide to enroll at Trent University, a final secondary school transcript and Graduation Diploma must be provided as soon as they become available.

Language Requirements

At Trent University, it is essential for students to demonstrate proficiency in both spoken and written English. This proficiency is crucial for meeting the demands of classroom instruction, completing written assignments, and participating in tutorials and discussions.

Applicants whose first language is not English are typically required to submit proof of English proficiency through one of the following accepted tests:

• TOEFL / TOEFL IBT / TOEFL IBT Special Home Edition: 86 IBT with a minimum writing score of 20.
• IELTS: 6.5, with no band below 6.0.
• The Duolingo English Test: 115 (Note: Duolingo is not accepted by the School of Graduate Studies at Trent, and is only applicable for Undergraduate applications.)
• CAEL | CAEL On-line: 60 (starting July 2020).
• Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Advanced English): 176, with no sub-score below 169.
• Pearson PTE Academic In-person & Online: 59.
• Trent Academic ESL Program: Academic English II with 75% in all courses.

It is important to note that English Language Proficiency requirements are subject to change without prior notice. If you have results from a recognized Canadian University English language testing service, you may submit your results for consideration.

For those who do not meet the English proficiency requirements, Trent University offers the Trent-ESL: English for University Program, which provides an intensive English language, academic skills, and university transition program.
