Academic Requirements

For students interested in the Bachelor of Arts - Gender and Social Justice (Honours) program, the following Academic Requirements apply:

Minimum GPA: 70% average in best six 4U/M courses for Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) applicants.
For International Students:
- Minimum 7.0 average in Grade 12 for students from Vietnam (only academic courses are taken into average calculation).
- Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
For students from other educational backgrounds, the following are required:
- Minimum overall score of 26 in the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma.
- Minimum 'C' grade in five O-level subjects and at least two A-level subjects for British-patterned education.
- Minimum 'B' average (3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale) for American-patterned education.

Language Requirements

At Trent University, it is essential for students to demonstrate proficiency in both spoken and written English. This proficiency is crucial for meeting the demands of classroom instruction, completing written assignments, and actively participating in tutorials and discussions.

Applicants whose first language is not English are typically required to provide proof of English proficiency through one of the following accepted tests:

TOEFL / TOEFL IBT / TOEFL IBT Special Home Edition: 86 IBT with a minimum writing score of 20.
IELTS: 6.5, with no band below 6.0.
The Duolingo English Test: 115 (Note: Duolingo is not accepted by the School of Graduate Studies at Trent, and is only applicable for Undergraduate applications).
CAEL | CAEL On-line (starting July 2020): 60.
Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency (Certificate of Advanced English): 176, with no sub-score below 169.
Pearson PTE Academic In-person & Online: 59.
Trent Academic ESL Program: Academic English II with 75% in all courses.
