Academic Requirements

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (Degree Completion) program has specific academic requirements that prospective students must meet to be considered for admission.

Standard admission

Completion of an approved transfer program with a minimum 'B' (3.00/4.33) GPA.

Completion of prerequisite courses with a minimum 'B' (3.00/4.33) grade in each.
Completion of an Arts or Science Diploma (or 60 credits), including a minimum of 24 second-year credits, with a minimum GPA of 'B' (3.00/4.33), from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Prerequisite(s)

At a minimum, the following recognized college/university level courses, each with a minimum 'B' (3.00/4.33) grade:

Six credits (two courses) in chemistry with a laboratory component in at least one course.
Six credits (two courses) in biology.
Six credits (two courses) in math or physics (may include three credits of statistics), with at least one course in linear algebra or calculus.
Six credits (two courses) in writing or communications.

Language Requirements

English is the primary language of instruction and communication at Royal Roads University. All students are required to meet our English language requirements.

You need to demonstrate a minimum level of English proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing when you apply.

There are three ways to demonstrate your English language proficiency:

Holding a recognized credential from an English-speaking country
Submitting an official English language proficiency test score report
Completing a pathway program with our language school partners

RRU accepts the following English language proficiency tests:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS-A):
- 6.5 overall with no single band score less than 6.0 for undergraduate first-year entry programs
- 6.5 overall with a minimum 6.5 in writing and speaking, and 6.0 in listening and reading for undergraduate third-year entry and graduate programs
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL-iBT):
- 88 overall with a minimum 20 in reading, writing, listening, and speaking for undergraduate first-year entry programs
- 88 overall with a minimum 24 in writing, and 20 in listening, reading, and speaking for undergraduate third-year entry and graduate programs
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE-A):
- 60 overall with no section less than 58 for undergraduate first-year entry programs
- 60 overall with a minimum 60 in writing and speaking, and 58 in listening and reading for undergraduate third-year entry and graduate programs
Duolingo English Test (DET):
- 120 overall with no integrated subscore less than 110 for undergraduate first-year entry programs
- 120 overall with a minimum of 110 for literacy, comprehension, and conversation; and 115 for production for undergraduate third-year entry and graduate programs

Test results are considered valid for two years from the date of your exam. Results are considered official when sent directly from the testing organization.
