Program overview

The Animation Diploma program is designed to immerse students in the world of drawing, design, and the principles and techniques of both traditional and digital character animation. Utilizing the latest technology, students will work in state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring they are well-prepared for a career in the animation industry. This two-year program emphasizes applied learning, allowing students to develop their artistic skills and technical dexterity while fostering creative thinking. Graduates will leave with a professional quality demo reel that showcases their design and animation skills, ready to enter British Columbia's vibrant entertainment sector.

Program structure

The Animation Diploma program spans a duration of two years and is offered on a full-time basis. The program is structured as follows:

  • Year 1: Focus on foundational skills in animation, including life drawing, animation principles, layout and design, and character design.
  • Year 2: Advanced studies in life drawing, animation principles, and production of a demo reel.

Additionally, there is an optional Co-op work term available between the first and second years, subject to industry availability. This hands-on experience allows students to apply their learning in real-world settings, enhancing their employability upon graduation.
