The Environmental Technician program at Mohawk College is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to address environmental challenges. This program emphasizes hands-on learning and practical experience, preparing graduates for a rewarding career in environmental protection and sustainability.

Program structure

The Environmental Technician program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a period of two academic years (periods of 8 months). Students will engage in a variety of learning experiences, including:

  • Hands-on laboratory experience using state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Collaborative capstone projects with industry partners.
  • Optional co-op opportunities to gain real-world experience.
  • Field trips to relevant industrial and municipal facilities.

This program also offers students the chance to participate in a co-op format, which includes three work terms, allowing them to apply their knowledge in practical settings. Students may also be eligible for the Ministry of Environment Entry Level Drinking Water Certificate upon successful completion of specific courses.
