Program overview

The Art and Design Foundations program at Mohawk College offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various creative fields, including art, digital arts, photography, graphic design, typography, and visual communications. This program is designed to build essential skills that prepare students for advanced studies in areas such as Photography, Graphic Design, Animation, or Game Design. With a focus on exploring a variety of creative disciplines, students will discover their passion and potential career paths while mastering the fundamentals of traditional and digital art forms.

Program structure

The Art and Design Foundations program is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience over a duration of 1 academic year (8 months). This program is designed to facilitate a seamless transition for students coming from high school or the workforce into a college-level diploma program. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Hands-on experience in various creative disciplines.

Students who begin their studies in January will enter Semester 2 in the Spring/Summer, allowing for flexibility in their educational journey.
