Program Overview

The Environmental Public Health program at BCIT is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as an Environmental Health Officer or Public Health Inspector. This program emphasizes applied learning, where students gain practical experience through hands-on activities and real-world applications. Graduates are equipped with the necessary skills to safeguard public health through education, consultation, and enforcement of health legislation. Program Structure

The Bachelor of Environmental Public Health program spans a total of two years and consists of the following components:

  • Technical Component: 123.5 credits, including specialty courses and practical experience.
  • Practical Experience: 17.0 credits, which includes a three-month practicum at a BC health agency.
  • Liberal Studies: 9.0 credits required to enhance communication and critical thinking skills.

This program is structured to provide a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring that students are well-prepared for their future careers. The first year focuses on full-time studies on campus, while the second year combines on-campus learning with practical experiences. Students will also engage in field trips and directed studies, enhancing their understanding of environmental public health.
