Published on October 30, 2024

Detailed updates on the health check process and certified document translation required for a Canada study visa application in 2024. Learn about the steps, service fees, and helpful tips to confidently complete your study visa application for Canada.
When is a health check needed for a Canada study visa?
A health check is a mandatory step when applying for a Canada study visa. You can opt to complete the health check at the beginning of the application process (for the SDS stream with no financial proof requirement) or wait until you receive an invitation to undergo a health check from the Canadian Consulate (for the financial proof stream). After processing your application, the health check invitation will be sent to your registered email.
Additionally, the health check process allows students to gain awareness of their own health status, enabling better preparation for student life abroad and identifying necessary steps to maintain and improve their health while away from home.

What should you prepare for the health check?
Document preparation
- Original passport
- National ID card
- Prescription glasses or contact lenses if needed
- Four 4x6 passport photos, with a white background, taken within the last six months
- Health check form
- Previous medical examination results, medical records, treatment medications (if applicable)
Diet before the health check
- A light meal is allowed; fasting is unnecessary.
- Avoid heavy, hard-to-digest foods.
- Limit caffeine and sugar intake as they may raise blood pressure and glucose levels, affecting test results.
- Drink plenty of water to maintain body hydration.

How does document translation and certification work for a Canada study application?
Most documents are simple enough that you can translate them into English on your own. However, self-translated transcripts are only valid for personal use and are not suitable for official procedures as they lack guarantees of accuracy and objectivity.
To avoid difficulties in certifying translated documents for a Canada study visa application, you should have your transcripts and diplomas translated by a certified translation service. You can choose any reputable public notary service, private notary office, or Department of Justice-certified office nearby for an authenticated seal.
