Academic Requirements

For students interested in the Bachelor of Arts and Science - French & Kinesiology program at the University of Lethbridge, the following Academic Requirements must be met:

Canadian high school students in Alberta must have completed five of the following courses with a minimum 65% average across them:
- Required Course: English Language Arts 30-1
- Three of the following courses are required:
  - Aboriginal Studies 30
  - Art 30 or Art 31
  - Biology 30
  - Chemistry 30
  - Choral Music 30, General Music 30, or Instrumental Music 30
  - Dance 35
  - Drama 30
  - Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2
  - Mathematics 31
  - Physics 30
  - Science 30
  - Social Studies 30-1
  - Five credits in Advanced-level CTS Computer Science (CSE)
  - One or more distinct languages at the 30 level
- One additional requirement from this list: Must be from the list above, at the 30 level, and worth at least five credits (multiple courses worth a total of five or more credits can be used). Cannot be a Special Project.

This program also requires that if you are taking it as a Bachelor of Arts, you only have to fulfill the above requirements. If you are taking it as a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts & Science, or a Bachelor of Science combined degree, three of the courses you include must be:

Biology 30
Chemistry 30
Mathematics 30-1

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases. Vietnam International Students: Require at least four years of study with a minimum overall grade of 7/10.

Language Requirements

The English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirement applies to all applicants to undergraduate programs, regardless of citizenship or country of origin. The University of Lethbridge reserves the right to determine and publish adequate levels of language proficiency.

Proficiency in English may be demonstrated through any of the following means:

High School
- Alberta English Language Arts 30-1, or equivalent, with a minimum final (blended) grade of 75 percent.
- A grade of 5 or higher in IB Higher or Standard Level English.
- A grade of 4 or higher in AP English.
- A grade of B or higher in GCE A/S-level or A-level English.
- Successful completion of a minimum of three consecutive years of full-time academic study in English at a secondary school in Canada or another country where English is recognized as the primary language.
Post Secondary
- Successful completion of a minimum two years of full-time academic study in English at a post-secondary institution in Canada or another country where English is recognized as the primary language.
- Successful completion of an academic diploma, applied degree, or baccalaureate degree, requiring at least two years of full-time study, at a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada where the language of instruction is English.
English for Academic Purposes
- Successful completion of the Advanced Level of the University of Lethbridge English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program.
- A passing grade in an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program accepted as a means of satisfying ELP by another recognized Canadian university.
- A passing grade in an EAP program approved by the Manager of Admissions.
ELP Assessments
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL (iBT) or TOEFL iBT Home Edition) with a minimum total score of 80, with minimum scores of 16 in each of Listening, Reading, and Speaking, and a minimum score of 18 in Writing.
- Academic International English Languages Testing System (IELTS or IELTS Online) test with a minimum overall score of 6.0, and a minimum 6.0 in each band.
- Cambridge English Qualifications: C1 Advanced (C1 Advanced), with a minimum score of 169, and a minimum 169 in each subscore.
- Cambridge English Qualifications: C2 Proficiency (C2 Proficiency), with a minimum score of 169, and a minimum 169 in each subscore.
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic score with a minimum overall score of 54.
- Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL or CAEL Online) assessment with a minimum overall score of 60, a minimum of 50 in each of Listening, Reading, and Speaking, and a minimum of 60 in Writing.
- Duolingo with a minimum score of 105.
