Academic Requirements

The Academic Requirements for the MBA in Sustainable Innovation program at the University of Victoria are designed to ensure that candidates are well-prepared for the challenges of this innovative program. Here are the key requirements:

Minimum Work Experience: Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of work experience. If you do not possess an undergraduate degree but have over 15 years of professional experience, your application will still be considered.
Application Submission Requirements: Candidates are assessed holistically based on their education, work and life experiences, personal submissions, references, and standardized test scores (GMAT, GRE, or EA) if required.
Résumé/CV: A detailed résumé or CV is required, outlining your work experience and other relevant experiences, including volunteer and community involvement. There is no page limit, but it should include:
- Start and end dates (month and year)
- Full-time or part-time status
- Whether the position was ongoing, an internship, or a co-operative education experience
Personal Submissions: Applicants must submit personal statements that define what sustainable innovation means to them. This includes:
1. Career Road Map: A written document (500-700 words) detailing career goals and how the UVic MBA will help achieve them.
2. Sustainable Innovation Video: A 3-minute video explaining why the UVic MBA in Sustainable Innovation is a good fit for you.

All applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency to attend UVic. If you need to provide proof of language proficiency, you can do so through academic studies, English language proficiency tests, or programs offered by UVic's English Language Centre (ELC).

English language proficiency can be demonstrated through the following accepted tests:

CAEL: 70 (no section less than 60)
Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: 180 (no skill less than 170)
IELTS Academic (including results from IELTS One Skill Retake): 6.5 (no component less than 6.0)
MET (4-skill only): 64
PTE: 65 (no skill less than 60)
TOEFL iBT (UVic's TOEFL institution code is 0989): 90 (no section less than 20)

We will not accept unofficial test scores or tests taken more than two years before your application to UVic. All test scores must be sent directly to UVic from the testing organization.
