Academic Requirements

The program of Maîtrise ès arts - Sociologie (mémoire ou projet) requires specific academic qualifications for admission. Here are the key requirements:

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree with a major in sociology or an equivalent discipline, achieving a minimum average of 70% (B), calculated according to the guidelines of graduate studies.
For those applying under the thesis or memory options, candidates with a bachelor's degree in another discipline but with a minimum average of 70% (B) may be admitted to a preparatory program consisting of a maximum of eight courses if their prior training is deemed insufficient.
For the professional course master's option and the microprograms in applied methodology, candidates must have a bachelor's degree with a major in sociology or an equivalent discipline with a minimum average of 70% (B). Alternatively, if the applicant does not have a degree in sociology or an equivalent discipline, relevant work experience along with a bachelor's degree in another discipline may be considered.
All candidates for the thesis, memory, and professional course options must demonstrate proficiency in either French or English, depending on the language of their program. Candidates whose first language is neither French nor English must provide proof of proficiency in one of the two languages.
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
