Academic Requirements

To be eligible for the Maîtrise en droit - Spécialisation en études féministes et de genre (LL.M.), candidates must meet the following academic requirements:

Hold a bachelor's degree in law from a Canadian university or an equivalent law degree from a foreign university, or exceptionally, a degree deemed equivalent by the program's admission committee.
Achieve a minimum overall average of 70% (B) in their law degree, calculated according to the guidelines of graduate studies.
Special attention will be given to legal experience, prior research, and letters of recommendation.

For international students, particularly those from Vietnam and other Asian countries, it is essential to ensure that their qualifications are recognized as equivalent to a Canadian law degree. Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Additionally, for those interested in the interdisciplinary approach of the program, it is important to have a background in feminist studies, which includes:

A minimum of two undergraduate courses or one graduate course in women's studies, gender relations, feminism, or sexuality.

Language Requirements

Courses at the University of Ottawa are given in English, French or both languages. You must master one of the two languages to be admitted. We reserve the right to request the result of a language test at any time if necessary.

For the Maîtrise en droit - Spécialisation en études féministes et de genre (LL.M.) program, the following language tests are accepted:

IELTS - Overall score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.5 in the writing section.
TOEFL IBT - Overall score of 86, with a minimum of 22 in the writing section.
