The Program of Academic English Preparation (PAEP) at the University of New Brunswick Fredericton is specifically designed to help students prepare for the successful completion of their undergraduate degree programs. This pathway is ideal for academically admissible students who do not meet the full English language requirements for undergraduate entrance. Program structure
The PAEP is structured to accommodate students based on their English proficiency levels, categorized as follows:
- IELTS 6.0 or equivalent: 1 Term - EAP + 2 academic courses
- IELTS 5.5 or equivalent: 2 Terms -
- Term 1: EAP + 1 academic course
- Term 2: EAP + 2 academic courses
- IELTS below 5.5 or equivalent: 3 to 4 Terms - EAP, with eligibility to enroll in academic courses in terms 2 or 3
Students are required to maintain a B average (75%) in their English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses to progress through the pathway. The program offers full-time language studies, incorporating over 35 hours a week of class hours, assignments, tutorials, and advising. Classes commence in September, January, and May, following UNB's academic calendar.
