Program overview

The Intensive Program at the University of Calgary is designed to enhance English language skills through immersive learning experiences. This program focuses on taking English out of the textbook and into real-life situations, making it an ideal choice for students eager to improve their communication abilities. The Intensive Program is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience over a 4 to 5-week period, depending on the session. The program includes:

  • Classes held Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., with Friday classes from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Engaging activities that promote effective communication skills.
  • Opportunities for vocabulary and idioms development, particularly in the 5-week format.
  • Literature Circle discussion groups to enhance critical thinking and oral fluency.
  • Pronunciation practice to improve various aspects of spoken English.
