Program overview

Learn about marine ecosystems and organisms in this specialization, and immerse yourself in the marine environment during a semester abroad in Bermuda. This program offers a unique opportunity to study life in the ocean, from the largest animals to the smallest organisms, while developing foundational knowledge and lab skills. Students will have the chance to explore coral reefs and gain hands-on experience through a co-op placement or summer internship, enhancing their degree with practical work experience.

Program structure

The Marine Biology program is designed to be completed in four or five years, depending on the chosen path. Students can opt for a regular program or a co-op program, which provides valuable work experience integrated into their studies. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Full-time study load
  • Experiential learning opportunities, including a semester abroad at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS)
  • Capstone project and undergraduate thesis
  • Direct-entry co-op option available
  • In-class delivery method at Ontario Tech University, North Oshawa
  • Start dates in September and January

Students interested in the co-op option can apply directly through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) using the code DBL. This program is a specialization within the Biological Science program, focusing on marine ecosystems and organisms.
