Program overview

Pursue an area of biological science that is rapidly growing and which applies to many day-to-day applications, such as health, agriculture, and industry. The Applied Biotechnology specialization can be taken within the Biological Science program, combining a primary emphasis on both biology and chemistry. This unique blend gives students a competitive edge in the rapidly growing field of biotechnology. Students will gain a strong understanding of cell and molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, and physiology, while also benefiting from enhanced laboratory experience throughout the program.

Program structure

The Applied Biotechnology program is designed to be completed in a four or five-year timeframe, depending on the chosen path. Here are some key features of the program structure:

  • Full-time program load
  • Direct-entry co-op option available
  • Experiential learning opportunities, including a capstone project and undergraduate thesis
  • In-class delivery method at Ontario Tech University, North Oshawa
  • Start dates in September and January
