The Protection, Security and Investigation (Private Security) program at Niagara College is designed to equip you with essential skills in critical thinking, research, and interviewing. Program Structure

The Protection, Security and Investigation (Private Security) program is a 2-year diploma program offered at the Welland campus. The program is structured to provide a comprehensive education in the field of private security through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Hands-on experiential learning in the Justice Studies Simulation Lab.
  • Practical, in-field experience through volunteer opportunities with local service agencies.
  • Eligibility to write the Ontario Security Guard licensing exam after completing the first year and the First Aid course.
  • Pathway options to gain additional diplomas in Police Foundations or Community and Justice Services with just 8 additional months of study.

This program is designed to ensure that students are well-prepared for the challenges of the private security sector upon graduation.
