Program Overview

Marine Diesel Mechanics are engine specialists with expert knowledge of electrical and engine systems in diesel-powered marine vessels and equipment. In this program, you will learn how to install, repair, and maintain major mechanical components of commercial machinery. The training you receive will also be applicable to other trades, such as Heavy Equipment Service Technician and Truck and Transport Service Technician. Given the importance of water transportation in both industry and leisure, Marine Diesel Mechanics are in high demand across various sectors globally.

Program Structure

The Marine Diesel Mechanics certificate program is designed to be completed within one academic year of full-time study. The program structure includes:

  • Hands-on training in marine diesel mechanics.
  • Instruction in safety protocols and workplace safety.
  • Practical experience through a supervised practicum.
  • Classes scheduled primarily between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with some evening classes.
  • Access to a connected learning environment with technology requirements, including internet access and a laptop.
