Program Overview

The Electrical Engineering Technology diploma program is tailored to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills for a career as a technologist in the electrical sector. This program encompasses a wide array of skill-based training in fundamental areas such as math, physical science, and electrical circuits. Students will develop critical thinking, problem-solving, research, communication, and teamwork skills, alongside technical abilities in selecting, designing, installing, testing, operating, maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and sustaining electrical and support systems.

Throughout the program, students will engage in a blend of lectures, hands-on activities, and individual or team projects, allowing them to apply their knowledge in real-world and simulated environments.

The Electrical Engineering Technology diploma program is designed to be completed within two years of full-time study. The program offers various options, including an optional co-op experience that allows students to gain practical work experience in the field. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Program Length: Two years of full-time study.
  • Co-op Option: Available for students to gain practical experience.
  • Advanced Placement: Students with a Certificate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technician or equivalent can enter directly into year two of the program.
  • January Intake: An accelerated delivery option is available, engaging students in full-time study for four consecutive 15-week terms.
