The Pathway to Undergraduate Studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is designed for students who do not meet the English Proficiency Requirement for undergraduate admission. This unique program allows students to complete qualifying English courses that directly lead into undergraduate studies at KPU. Depending on their English proficiency, students can be placed in one of three Pathway levels, with select undergraduate courses available at the higher levels. This program not only helps students improve their English skills but also enables them to get a head start on their future degree.

Program structure

The Pathway to Undergraduate Studies program is structured to provide flexibility and support for students at different levels of English proficiency. The program includes:

  • Program Length: Ranges from 1 to 2 terms depending on the Pathway level.
  • Two options for English proficiency upgrading:
    • English Upgrading (ENGQ) for students needing to improve reading and writing skills.
    • English Language Studies (ELST) for students who have had most of their education in another language.
  • Students can take a limited number of undergraduate courses while completing their English courses, allowing them to earn up to 12 undergraduate level credits.

This program is tailored to meet the needs of both native and non-native English speakers, ensuring that all students receive the necessary support to succeed in their academic journey.
