Academic Requirements

To be eligible for the Diploma in Science program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, students must meet the following academic requirements:

Students must be admitted to the Faculty of Science.
A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 is required in the courses that fulfill the requirements of the Diploma.
Students must complete a total of 60 credits in 1100- and 2000-level courses.

The specific curricular requirements include:

3 credits in First-year English.
Select two of the following courses, ensuring at least one course is in Calculus (total of 6 credits):
- MATH 1112 - Pre-Calculus
- MATH 1120 - Differential Calculus
- MATH 1130 - Calculus for Life Sciences I
- MATH 1220 - Integral Calculus
- MATH 1230 - Calculus for Life Sciences II
- STAT 1115 - Statistics I
Select 20 credits of 1100- or 1200-level courses in at least two of the following disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
Select 2 courses at the 2000-level or higher in BIOL, CHEM, PHYS, or MATH (except MATH 2341), totaling 6-8 credits.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

Duolingo English Test: Score of 110 or higher, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Test: overall band of 6.5 or higher, with a minimum 6.0 in each band, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
Pearson Test of English (PTE): Score of 61 or higher, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): iBT 88 or higher, with no sub score less than 20, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
Accuplacer: Reading score of 260, Writing score of 250 and WritePlacer Essay score of 6, or higher, taken within the last 2 years from the term of admission
