Program Overview

Do you have a passion for performing? Fanshawe’s Acting for Screen and Stage program inspires students to develop their talents and lays the foundation for a successful career in the screen, stage, and voice industries. Through work with industry professionals and collaboration with other Fanshawe media programs, students will gain creative and technical understandings of the actor's process in various media.

Program Structure

This two-year diploma program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience through collaborative media-based projects that simulate real-world working environments. The program structure includes:

  • Program Length: 60 weeks
  • First-year studies primarily at the London Downtown Campus, focusing on stage performance.
  • Second-year studies split between the London Campus and the London Downtown Campus, including film, motion capture, and green-screen work.
  • General Education courses taken at the main campus.
  • Opportunities for voice work in animation, film, and games.
  • Combat training for stage and screen.
  • A showcase evening presented by students, featuring a mix of live and projected work.

Students will also benefit from dedicated lab and theatre spaces, including the largest green screen TV and film studios outside of Toronto, along with guest speakers and field trips that provide insight into the professional world of entertainment.

Career Options

Graduates of Fanshawe’s Acting for Screen and Stage program will have the opportunity to pursue various creative careers, including:

  • Stage Actor: Develop and portray characters in traditional and contemporary stage plays across various genres.
  • Screen Actor: Work in film and television productions, performing in both sequential and non-sequential scenes.
  • Voice Actor: Utilize vocal techniques to create characters in animated films and games.
  • Motion-Capture Character Performer: Perform characters for film, animation, and games using body and facial movement techniques.
  • TV Host or Narrator: Present and narrate content for television programs, documentaries, and other media formats.

The growth in the screen industries, driven by demand for content from streaming services, has created a talent shortage, leading to strong demand for trained performers in various fields.
