Program Overview

The Bachelor of Environment and Society (Environmental Studies) degree program at Capilano University is designed to equip students with the essential skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary for a career in environmental advocacy across various public and non-profit sectors. This program emphasizes a comprehensive approach to environmental issues, integrating multiple disciplines such as anthropology, biology, ecology, economics, and political science. Program Structure

The Bachelor of Environment and Society (Environmental Studies) program spans a duration of 4 years and offers students the flexibility to choose between two degree options: Environmental Sciences and Environmental Studies. The program structure includes:

  • Experiential learning opportunities through community partnerships.
  • A capstone course that involves a research project on an environmental topic relevant to the local region.
  • Specialization options in areas such as biodiversity and conservation, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and urban sustainability.
  • Full-time or part-time course load options.

Starting in Fall 2025, students will have the opportunity to study in Squamish, a location that provides a dynamic setting for environmental research.
