Academic Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science at Bishop's University, students must meet specific Academic Requirements. Here are the key points to consider:

• Applicants are generally expected to have completed 12 years of formal schooling and possess a secondary school credential that allows access to university in their home country.
• For international students, particularly those from Vietnam and other Asian countries, the following program-specific course requirements apply:
  • For the Bachelor of Science programs, students must have completed university-entrance Mathematics and two university-entrance Sciences, which typically include Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics.
• Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
• While there is no specific minimum GPA mentioned, it is important to note that the average required can vary based on the curriculum followed. Transcripts will be reviewed on an individual basis.
• All applicants must submit proof of English proficiency, along with a copy of their high school transcript and personal identification documents.

Language Requirements

All applicants must provide proof of English language proficiency regardless of citizenship/immigration status in Canada. Please identify the entry below that best describes your situation in order to determine what, if any, additional supporting documentation you must provide with your application for admission:

Completed / completing a DEC at an English or French CEGEP in Quebec

• Document required: Quebec permanent code

Completed / completing at least three years of instruction at an accredited secondary institution, recognized by Bishop’s University, where English or French is the primary language of instruction

• Document required: High school transcript from the institution where English or French is the primary language of instruction

Completed/completing at least 30 credit hours (or equivalent to one full year of study) at a post‐secondary institution, recognized by Bishop’s University, where English or French is the primary language of instruction

• Document required: Transcript of studies from the post-secondary institution where English or French is the primary language of instruction

Completed a recognized English assessment with appropriate minimum score:

• TOEFL minimum overall score of 90 (internet-based) with no component score below 20
• IELTS academic test, minimum overall score of 6.5 with no component score below 6.0.
• Cambridge English, minimum overall score of 176 on one of the following:
  • B2 First
  • C1 Advanced
  • C2 Proficient
• PTE – Pearson Test of English (Academic)
  • Overall Score of 65 with no sub-score under 60
• Duolingo English Test (DET) minimum score of 115 with no sub-score under 90
• LanguageCert Academic Test: minimum band score of 70-74 with no individual score less than 65

Document Required: Official English assessment test score report sent to Bishop’s University directly from the testing organization.

*Please note that Cambridge English test scores are considered “valid” for a period of no more than four years from the date the test score was achieved.
