Academic Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Arts and Science program at the University of Regina, international students must meet specific Academic Requirements. Here are the key points to consider:

English Language Proficiency Requirements

The following will be accepted as satisfactory evidence of English Language Proficiency (ELP):

English Language Proficiency List by Country: You may meet the ELP requirement through the main language of instruction of education obtained in your home country.
English as a Second Language: Successful completion of the English for Academic Purposes courses EAP 100 and EAP 101 or a minimum placement level of 55 (overall average of 65 or higher) on the EAP placement exam.
Post-Secondary Studies: Successful completion of at least 24 credit hours from a post-secondary institution where English was the main medium of instruction, including at least 6 credit hours in humanities or social science subjects, with a minimum GPA of 60.00%.
Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate English: Advanced Placement English (grade of 3 or better) or International Baccalaureate Higher English (grade of 4 or better).
Internationally Recognized Standards: GCSE/IGCSE/GCE O' Level English with a minimum grade of '6' or GCE A/AS/AICE Level English with a minimum grade of 'C'.
English Proficiency Tests: One of the following tests will also be accepted:
- TOEFL: Internet Based: Overall 83; Reading: 20; Listening: 20; Speaking: 20; Writing: 20.
- IELTS: Overall Band score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 59, no area with less than 59.
- CAEL: Minimum score of 60.
- MET: Minimum score of 85.
- CELT: Minimum score of 60.
- Duolingo online English test: Overall score: 120 (specific subscores apply).
- Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)/C1: Overall score of 180.
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)/C2: Overall score of 180.
High School Studies: For students from countries on the ELP List, successful completion of at least three years of formal, full-time study in English at a recognized secondary school where English is the primary language of instruction.
