Academic Requirements

For the Double Degree program in Bachelor of Science - Biological Sciences & Bachelor of Business Administration - General Management (Optional Co-op), the following academic requirements must be met:

Admission Requirements for Canadian High School Students:

• Alberta: Must complete five courses with a minimum 65% average, including:
  • English Language Arts 30-1
  • Three of the following:
    • Biology 30
    • Chemistry 30
    • Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2
  • One additional course at the 30 level.
• British Columbia: Must complete five courses with a minimum 65% average, including:
  • English 12
  • Three of the following:
    • Biology 12
    • Chemistry 12
    • Pre-Calculus 12 or Foundations of Mathematics 12
  • One additional course at the 12 level.
• Manitoba: Must complete five courses with a minimum 65% average, including:
  • Comprehensive Focus 40S or Literary Focus 40S
  • Three of the following:
    • Biology 40S
    • Chemistry 40S
    • Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S
  • One additional course at the 40 level.
• New Brunswick: Must complete five courses with a minimum 65% average, including:
  • English 121 or 122
  • Three of the following:
    • Biology 121 or 122
    • Chemistry 121 or 122
    • Calculus 120
  • One additional course at the 120 level.
• Newfoundland & Labrador: Must complete five courses with a minimum 65% average, including:
  • English 3201
  • Three of the following:
    • Biology 3201
    • Chemistry 3202
    • Mathematics 3200
  • One additional course at the 3000 level.
• Northwest Territories: Must complete five courses with a minimum 65% average, including:
  • English Language Arts 30-1
  • Three of the following:
    • Biology 30
    • Chemistry 30
    • Mathematics 30-1 or Mathematics 30-2
  • One additional course at the 30 level.
• Nova Scotia: Must complete five courses with a minimum 65% average, including:
  • English 12 (Academic or Advanced)
  • Three of the following:
    • Biology 12
    • Chemistry 12
    • Pre-Calculus 12 or Mathematics 12 (Advanced or Academic)
  • One additional course at the 12 level.
• Ontario: Must complete five courses with a minimum 65% average, including:
  • English (ENG4U)
  • Three of the following:
    • Biology (SBI4U)
    • Chemistry (SCH4U)
    • Advanced Functions (MHF4U)
  • One additional course at the 4U or 4M level.
• Quebec: Must complete 10 courses with a minimum 65% average, including:
  • Two courses from the English Literature 603 series
  • Eight of the following:
    • Biology 101
    • Chemistry 202
    • Mathematics 201

Language Requirements

The English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirement applies to all applicants to undergraduate programs, including the Double Degree - Bachelor Of Science - Biological Sciences & Bachelor Of Business Administration - General Management (Optional Co-op). The following assessments are accepted to demonstrate proficiency in English:

• High School:
  1. Alberta English Language Arts 30-1, or equivalent, with a minimum final (blended) grade of 75 percent.
  2. A grade of 5 or higher in IB Higher or Standard Level English.
  3. A grade of 4 or higher in AP English.
  4. A grade of B or higher in GCE A/S-level or A-level English.
  5. Successful completion of a minimum of three consecutive years of full-time academic study in English at a secondary school in Canada or another country where English is recognized as the primary language.
• Post Secondary:
  1. Successful completion of a minimum two years of full-time academic study in English at a post-secondary institution in Canada or another country where English is recognized as the primary language.
  2. Successful completion of an academic diploma, applied degree, or baccalaureate degree, requiring at least two years of full-time study, at a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada where the language of instruction is English.
• English for Academic Purposes:
  1. Successful completion of the Advanced Level of the University of Lethbridge English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program.
  2. A passing grade in an EAP program accepted as a means of satisfying ELP by another recognized Canadian university.
  3. A passing grade in an EAP program approved by the Manager of Admissions.
• ELP Assessments:
  1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) with a minimum total score of 86, with a minimum score of 20 in each section.
  2. Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test with a minimum overall score of 6.5, and a minimum 6.0 in each band.
  3. Cambridge English Qualifications: C1 Advanced with a minimum score of 176, and a minimum 176 in each subscore.
  4. Cambridge English Qualifications: C2 Proficiency with a minimum score of 176, and a minimum 176 in each subscore.
  5. Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic score with a minimum overall score of 61, with a minimum score of 60 in each part.
  6. Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) assessment with a minimum overall score of 70, with a minimum score of 60 in each component.
  7. Duolingo with a minimum overall score of 120, with a minimum score of 110 in each subscore.
