Academic Requirements

The Bachelor of Business Studies (BBST) program at UPEI has specific academic requirements for admission. To be eligible for this program, students must have completed a two-year business diploma from a recognized college and achieved an overall average of 70%. Additionally, students must meet the UPEI admission requirements for this degree.

Once enrolled in the BBST program, students are required to obtain grades of at least 60% in at least 12 of the 16 required business courses to qualify for the degree. Students are also subject to all of the Academic Regulations of the University.

For international students, it is important to note that transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases. This evaluation is crucial for ensuring that the academic credentials meet the standards set by UPEI.

In terms of prerequisite courses, students are recommended to take the following required courses during their first and second years at UPEI:

• Accounting 1010 - Introduction to Financial Accounting (except students whose college diploma was in Accounting)
• Accounting 2210 - Managerial Accounting (except students whose college diploma was in Accounting)
• English 1010 - Academic Writing
• IKE 1040 - Indigenous Teachings
• Business 2880 - Research and Evidence-Based Management
• Business 3010 - Business Law – Part I
• Business 3330 - Integrated Cases in Corporate Finance or Business 3340 - Personal Finance
• Business 3430 - Integrated Cases in Marketing
• Business 3510 - Operations Management
• Business 3710 - Entrepreneurship and New Ventures
• Business 3910 - Strategic Management
• Business 4850 - Developing Management Skills

For students whose college diploma was in Accounting, they must take two business electives in place of Accounting 1010 and Accounting 2210. Students are encouraged to consult with LOA Portal's advisors for any clarification and support regarding these requirements.

Language Requirements

The language of instruction at the University of Prince Edward Island is English. All academically admissible applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language prior to undertaking studies. Proficiency may be demonstrated by:
