Academic Requirements

The University of Guelph has specific Academic Requirements for international students applying to the Bachelor of Arts - Major to be Determined program. Here are the key points to consider:

The secondary school graduation certificate that qualifies a student for admission to an internationally recognized university in their home country is generally acceptable.
Meeting the minimum Academic Requirements does not guarantee admission.
Prerequisite course requirements must be fulfilled to be eligible for the degree program/major of choice. It is essential to review the degree program requirements in addition to the requirements for your country or curriculum.
Students presenting predicted, interim, or midterm grade 12/senior level results may be considered for a conditional offer of admission if all prerequisite courses are completed or in progress and meet the minimum grade requirements.
For students from Vietnam, the Bàng Tót Nghiêp Phó Thông Trung Hoc (Upper Secondary School Graduation Certificate) with a minimum of 8 is required.

Language Requirements

To demonstrate English proficiency, the following tests are accepted:

Advanced Level of the English Language Certificate Program (ELCP) - Successful completion of the University of Guelph’s Open Learning Advanced Level of the English Language Certificate Program (ELCP) (levels 9 and 10).
Cambridge English: C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency - Minimum overall score of 176 with no band less than 169.
Canadian Academic English (CAEL) - Minimum overall band score of 70 for both paper and computer-based tests.
Duolingo English Test - Minimum overall score of 110. Individual subscores may be considered.
International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS - Academic) - Minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6 for both paper and computer-based tests.
Pearson Test of English (PTE) - Minimum overall score of 60 with no score less than 60 in the individual components.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Minimum total score of 89 with no individual scaled score less than 21 for both internet-based and home-edition tests.

Note: Test scores must be from a test completed within the past two years from the date of submission.
