Academic Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Commerce - Business Economics and Law program, students must meet the following Academic Requirements:

Completion of five academic subjects from high school (higher secondary education).
For students from Vietnam, a minimum average of 4.9 in all five required subjects in the Thi Tot Nghiep THPT/Tuyen Sinh Cao Dang-Dai Hoc is necessary to receive an unconditional offer. Note that no subjects can have a grade below 4, and Civic Education cannot be included in the admission average calculation.
Students applying to the Faculty of Engineering must achieve a minimum average of 6.9 in the same five subjects to qualify for an unconditional offer.
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

It is important for international students, particularly those from Vietnam, to ensure they have their school results, including Grade 11 and the first semester of Grade 12, ready for submission. A conditional offer can be obtained based on these results, which will become unconditional upon receipt of the graduation exam results.

Language Requirements

To be considered for admission to the University of Alberta, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English. The following examinations and their respective scores are accepted:

TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 90, with no less than 21 on each band.
IELTS Academic: Minimum score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL): Minimum score of 70, with no band less than 60.
PTE Academic: Minimum score of 61, with no less than 60 in each communicative skill.
Cambridge English Scale: Minimum score of 180 on C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency, with no less than 170 in each skill.
Completion of the University of Alberta’s EAP 136/INT D 137.

Additionally, applicants may fulfill the English language proficiency requirement through:

Successful completion of three years of full-time education in English in Canada or in another country where English is recognized as an official language of instruction.
Graduation from a recognized degree program offered by an accredited university where English is the primary language of instruction.
