Program overview

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is designed for those passionate about social justice and social issues. Graduates are eligible to register with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (RSW) and can also pursue further studies, such as a Master of Social Work degree at UFV. Program structure

The Bachelor of Social Work program at UFV has a duration of 4 years. Students enter the program in their third year after completing 60 university-level credits. The program structure includes:

• Options for specialization, such as the Child Welfare Specialization, which allows students to complete a practicum with the Ministry of Children and Family Development or a Delegated Aboriginal Agency.
• Accreditation by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education, valid until January 31, 2031.

Students can take a maximum of three upper-level BSW courses before being accepted into the program. The program is designed to ensure that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for a successful career in social work.
