Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts (Aviation Stream) at St. Thomas University is a unique program offered in partnership with MFC Training at the Fredericton Campus. This program integrates traditional undergraduate education with essential ground and flight training, making it one of the few of its kind in Canada. Students will start their journey on the St. Thomas University campus, engaging in first-year courses focused on social sciences and humanities. After completing a minimum of 24 credit hours, they will transition into flight training and ground school courses in their second year. Graduates will earn a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), a multi-engine class rating, and a Group 1 instrument rating. Additionally, students may qualify to take the Airline Transport Pilot Licence exam.

Program Structure

The Bachelor of Arts (Aviation Stream) program is structured over a four-year period, with the following key components:

  • Program Length: Four years
  • Students begin with foundational courses in social sciences and humanities.
  • Flight training and ground school courses commence in the second year after meeting specific requirements.
  • Students must achieve second-year standing (minimum of 24 credits) to begin flight training.
  • Ongoing training includes three courses per semester at St. Thomas University alongside practical flying lessons with MFC Training.

Students are also required to complete over 200 hours of flying and extensive ground training, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of aviation principles.
