Academic Requirements

The Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) program at Sheridan has specific academic requirements for admission. To be eligible, applicants must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or an equivalent qualification, which includes the following required courses:

English, Grade 12 (ENG4U or equivalent) with a minimum grade of 65%.
Mathematics, Grade 12 (U) (MCV4U, MDM4U, MHF4U or equivalent university-level Math) with a minimum grade of 60%.
- Students lacking a university-level Math with a minimum grade of 60% may complete Sheridan’s Mathematical Functions for Business (MATH18263) course, which is offered through Continuing and Professional Studies. A minimum grade of 60% in MATH18263 is required for admission.
Four other Grade 12 subjects (U or M) with a minimum grade of 60%.
A minimum overall average of 65% is required.

Alternatively, applicants may qualify with two semesters of postsecondary education, including required courses, with a minimum overall average of 65%.

Eligible applicants are selected based on their previous academic achievement, specifically the average of their six highest senior-level credits, including required courses.

For international students, it is essential to meet the English language proficiency requirements set by Sheridan. Additionally, transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

All applicants to Sheridan must demonstrate English-language proficiency. The following English-language proficiency tests are accepted for the Bachelor Of Business Administration (Honours) - Finance (PBBAF) program:

Sheridan’s EAP program:
- Certificate or Diploma program requirement: A minimum score of 70% in listening and speaking and 70% in reading and writing.
- Degree, Master’s and Graduate Certificate program requirement: A minimum score of 75% in listening and speaking and 75% in reading and writing.
Sheridan EPA test (English Proficiency Assessment):
- Listening Band – 4.0 for Certificate or Diploma programs; 4.5 for Degree programs.
- Reading Combined Band – 4.0 for Certificate or Diploma programs; 4.5 for Degree programs.
- Writing – CLB 7 for Certificate or Diploma programs; CLB 8 for Degree programs.
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language):
- Overall score 60 with no individual section below 50 for Certificate or Diploma programs; overall score 70 with no individual section below 60 for Degree programs.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System):
- Overall score 6.0 with no individual band below 5.5 for Certificate or Diploma programs; overall score 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0 for Degree programs.
TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language):
- Overall score 80 with no individual section below 20 for Certificate or Diploma programs; overall score 88 with no individual section below 21 for Degree programs.
Duolingo English Language Test:
- Overall score of 105 with no integrated subscore lower than 85 for Certificate or Diploma programs; overall score of 115 with no integrated subscore lower than 95 for Degree programs.
