Academic Requirements

Academic Requirements for the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics diploma are designed to ensure that students are adequately prepared for the challenges of the program. Here are the key requirements:

Students applying for the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics diploma must have:

A minimum of 50% in English 30-1 (ENGL 0301) or equivalent or a minimum of 60% in English 30-2 (ENGL 0300) or equivalent;

A minimum of 50% in Math 30-1 (MATH 0301) or equivalent.

For international students, it is important to note that:

International students must pay their tuition deposit to receive their letters of acceptance.

This program requires students to obtain a Co-op Work permit.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Students interested in the Co-op Specialization should apply directly, as there are limited seats available. To continue with the co-op placement in their final term, students must meet the prerequisites for COOP 2100, which include:

A minimum of 60 credits;

Good academic standing;

Completion of the CEED Work Readiness modules;

A job offer with a suitable employer.

Note: RDP cannot guarantee a Co-op placement if students are unable to secure a job offer. Students who do not meet the requirements for the Co-op specialization will still be eligible to graduate with the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Diploma.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

At Red Deer Polytechnic, we support a diverse student population worldwide. Note: Applicants whose first language is English and who declared this on their application are exempt from English Language Proficiency requirements.

Certain RDP programs have unique ELP requirements; ensure you review the program-specific requirements below. Applicants must also meet all other program Academic Requirements to be considered for admission into the program.

Applicants applying to the Academic Upgrading program are not required to demonstrate English Language Proficiency at the levels noted for credit programs. Placement assessments are used for admission to these programs.

Understanding RDP's English Language Proficiency Requirements:

• Applicants whose first language is not English must provide ELP official documentation to the Office of the Registrar by email or regular mail after you have applied.
• ELP tests must be no older than two years before your program start date.
• The Office of the Registrar can review your “unofficial” or scanned documents to initially admit you to a program and provide a Letter of Acceptance. However, official documentation must be received before the deadline, or you will not be granted “clear” admission until this step has been completed.

For the Artificial Intelligence And Data Analytics Diploma program, applicants must meet the following English Language Proficiency requirements:

• IELTS Academic: 6.5 with at least 5.5 on each band score
• Duolingo English Test: 115-125
• TOEFL: 83 iBT or 557 PBT
• CAEL: 60 with at least 55 on each band score
• PTE: 59 with at least 56 on each band score
• Oxford ELLT: 7 Overall
