Program overview

Gain an understanding of the principles of human movement and prepare for a career in health care, sport, rehabilitation, education, and more! The Biomechanics and Ergonomics program focuses on the interaction between the human body and the physical world. Emphasis is placed on optimizing human performance, reducing musculoskeletal injuries in the workplace, and promoting healthy returns to work and sport. Graduates will be well-positioned to apply for their Associate Ergonomist (AE) designation and can eventually pursue the Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist (CCPE) designation with additional work experience in the field.

Program structure

The Biomechanics and Ergonomics program is designed to be completed in four years of full-time study. The program is delivered in-class at Ontario Tech University, located in North Oshawa. Students can expect a comprehensive learning experience that includes:

  • Experiential learning opportunities such as clinical placements, internships, practicums, and research studies.
  • Access to modern facilities, including innovative labs and the Kinesiology Teaching Laboratory.
  • A focus on real-world applications of knowledge through hands-on experiences.

This program can also be taken as a specialization within the Kinesiology program, providing students with a broader understanding of health sciences.
