Program overview

Build a strong foundation for Law school in our Legal Studies program, exploring the law's defining features, functions, and social impacts. The Legal Studies program offers you the opportunity to critically explore the social roles of law and its connections with community, government, and society from different theoretical perspectives. It promotes justice by cultivating active citizenship skills, critical reflection, and respect for diversity, pluralism, equality, and equity. You will study law in relation to topical themes, including national security, globalization, technology, and the environment, while evaluating its response to the needs of various societal groups.

Program structure

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Legal Studies is designed to be completed in four or five years, depending on the chosen program load. Students can opt for a full-time study schedule, with classes delivered in-person at Ontario Tech University, Downtown Oshawa. The program offers various experiential learning opportunities, including:

  • Undergraduate thesis

Students may also choose to pursue a double major in Legal Studies and Political Science, enhancing their understanding of the intertwined nature of these disciplines.
