Program Overview

The Master of Science in Kinesiology (Thesis) at Lakehead University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human performance through a scientific lens. This multidisciplinary program emphasizes various content areas, including adapted physical activity, biomechanics, sports medicine, exercise physiology, motor control, psychology of physical activity, sociocultural aspects, and health promotion. Students will engage in an in-depth study of Kinesiology, allowing them to tailor their educational experience to their interests and career goals.

Program Structure

The Master of Science in Kinesiology (Thesis) program is structured to be completed within a maximum of six terms (2 years) of continuous registration. The program includes:

  • Four and a half FCE courses required for graduation.
  • A thesis component equivalent to two and a half FCE courses.
  • Elective courses that allow students to explore additional topics within Kinesiology.

Students are encouraged to select a discipline orientation that aligns with their interests, and they have the option to take electives outside the Kinesiology program. This flexibility enables a personalized educational journey, enhancing the overall learning experience.
