Program overview

The Double Degree - Honours Bachelor of Arts & Science - Interdisciplinary Studies - Human Nature program at Lakehead University is designed for students who wish to explore the intersection of various disciplines while focusing on the complexities of human nature. This program emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of both the arts and sciences, allowing students to develop critical thinking and analytical skills. With a strong foundation in interdisciplinary studies, graduates will be well-prepared for diverse career paths that require a multifaceted approach to problem-solving and inquiry.

Program structure

The program is structured as a four-year undergraduate degree, requiring students to complete a total of 20 full-course equivalents (FCEs). The program includes:

  • Three FCEs of Interdisciplinary Studies courses
  • Five FCEs in the first discipline
  • Five FCEs in the second discipline
  • Five FCEs from the Human Nature concentration

Students must maintain an overall average of 70% throughout their studies in the Interdisciplinary Studies Major and related courses. The program also offers a non-direct entry option for students who may not meet the Honours requirements, allowing them to complete a four-year bachelor's degree with a minimum average of 60%.
