Academic Requirements

For the Master of Business Administration in Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship program, applicants must meet the following Academic Requirements:

• Honours Undergraduate Degree: Applicants must possess an honours undergraduate degree along with a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
• Other Undergraduate Degree: If the applicant holds a different undergraduate degree, they must also have 2 years of work experience.
• GPA Requirement: A minimum GPA of B+ or equivalent is required for admission.
• Bridging Courses: If the applicant does not hold a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), or equivalent business degree, they may be required to complete two bridging courses:
  • Quantitative Methods for Business
  • Introduction to Business
• International Students:
  • If the applicant's first language is not English and they have completed fewer than 4 consecutive years of study in an English-speaking country, they must provide proof of English language proficiency.
  • International students will require a valid study permit.
• Mature Students: Mature students can apply directly to the MBA program, and their applications will be considered individually. They may need to complete prerequisite subjects.
• Transfer Students: Applicants may apply for admission based on previous studies completed in good standing at an accredited postsecondary university. They must submit official transcripts and may need to provide proof of English proficiency on a case-by-case basis.

All applicants are required to submit the following documents:

• A completed online application form
• Official transcripts for all previous undergraduate studies (if applicable)
• A CV detailing work experience, skills, voluntary engagement, and interests
• A Statement of Purpose of approximately 1000 words, outlining reasons for pursuing an MBA, career objectives, and how previous studies and experience have prepared them for the program
• Reference letters (minimum of 2)

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

To ensure the success of all admitted students at International Business University (IBU), applicants are required to provide evidence of strong English language written, oral, and comprehension skills. If your first language is not English and you completed fewer than 4 consecutive years full-time in an approved Canadian secondary school, you must provide test results from one of the following English Language Proficiency Test providers. The test must have been taken within 2 years of the start of your term of admission, and your test results must be equal to or greater than the minimum scores listed below.

The following tests are accepted by IBU along with their required minimum scores:

• Cambridge Assessment English C1: Advanced and/or C2: Proficiency - Required score: minimum 175 overall with no component below 170.
• Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) - Required score: minimum 70 overall with no band below 60.
• International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS) (not general test) - Required score: minimum 6 overall with no band below 6.
• Pearson Test of English (PTE) - Required score: Overall 60.
• Test of English as a Foreign Language, internet-based (TOEFL iBT) (not Super Score Test and not Home iBT test) - Required score: minimum 83 overall with no individual scaled score (writing, speaking, reading, listening) below 20.
• Canadian Language Benchmarks score - Required Score: minimum score of 7.
• Post-secondary level English for Academic Purposes program accredited by Languages Canada - Required Level: minimum equivalent of B Standing.
• Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) - Required Score: Level C1 or higher.
• Michigan English Language Reading Battery (MELAB) - Required Score: Minimum 76.
• Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST) - Required Score: 4.5 in Reading and Listening and 4.0 in Writing.
• Duolingo - Required Score: Minimum score of 105.
• Canadian Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) - Required Score: Overall 7, with no band less than 7.
