Academic Requirements

The Honours Bachelor of Interior Design program at Georgian College has specific academic requirements for admission. Applicants must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent qualification, or they may apply as mature students. The following are the detailed requirements:

Completion of six Grade 12 U or M level courses with a minimum average of 65 percent.
Grade 12 U English with a minimum grade of 65 percent.
Grade 11 or Grade 12 U or M level Mathematics with a minimum grade of 60 percent.

Additionally, applicants who meet the above requirements may be conditionally accepted pending the submission and scoring of a digital portfolio. Failure to provide the portfolio and/or meet the required portfolio score by the first day of classes may result in an offer of admission being revoked and withdrawal from courses.

Interior Decorating diploma graduates from all Ontario colleges with an overall grade point average (GPA) of 70 percent (B) or greater can apply to the Advanced Standing stream.

Mature applicants may also be considered for admission, provided their previous school performance and/or recent work record suggests a strong possibility of academic success. To qualify, applicants must be 19 years of age on or before the commencement of the program and must have been away from formal education for at least one year immediately prior to beginning studies. Mature applicants must meet subject prerequisites prior to registration.

It is important to note that first-year enrolment is limited; satisfying minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee admission.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

For the Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) (BAID) program, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. The following English language tests are accepted:

- 110 for Diploma/Certificate
- 120 for Degree studies
- 130 for Graduate certificate
TOEFL internet-based test (IBT):
- 79 for Diploma/Certificate
- 89 for Degree studies and Graduate certificate
TOEFL paper-based test:
- 550 for Diploma/Certificate
- 580 for Degree studies and Graduate certificate
IELTS Academic only:
- 6.0 for Diploma/Certificate
- 6.5 for Degree studies and Graduate certificate
- Minimum bands of 7.0 in Reading, Listening, Speaking, and 6.5 in Writing for Pharmacy Technician
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL)/CAEL Online:
- 60 for Diploma/Certificate
- 60 for Degree studies and Graduate certificate
Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE):
- 58 for Diploma/Certificate
- 61 for Degree studies and Graduate certificate
Cambridge English: C1 Advanced (CAE):
- 170 for Diploma/Certificate
- 175 for Degree studies and Graduate certificate
