Program Overview

The Food Processing Technician Diploma at Conestoga College is a 2-year accelerated program designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career in food processing. This program is ideal for hands-on, technically-minded students who thrive in fast-paced environments. It provides comprehensive training in food and beverage manufacturing, covering essential topics such as food safety, processing methods, and industrial maintenance. Students will gain practical experience in a unique semi-industrial lab facility, the only one of its kind in Canada, located on the Cambridge campus. Graduates will be well-equipped to support the operation and maintenance of food processing equipment, ensuring the production of high-quality and safe food products.

Program Structure

The Food Processing Technician program is structured to be completed in 16 months, delivered over 4 consecutive terms. The program includes:

  • Hands-on training in a semi-industrial lab facility
  • Courses covering industrial maintenance, food science, and food safety
  • Optional co-operative education experience available in the third term

This program is designed to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for a successful career in the food processing industry. The optional co-op stream allows students to gain valuable real-world experience, enhancing their employability upon graduation.
