Academic Requirements

To apply for the Advanced Diploma in Professional Accounting, applicants must meet the following entrance requirements:

Post-secondary education:
- A bachelor's degree in any discipline is required.
- Completion of one of the following courses:
  - ACCG 5110 (60%) or
  - FMGT 1100 (70%) and FMGT 2100 (70%) or
  - Other equivalent courses.
Math: One of the following:
- Pre-Calculus 11 (67%) or
- Foundations of Math 11 (67%) or
- Workplace Math 11 (67%) or
- OPMT 0199 - Math for Business (67%) or
- OPMT 0198 - Business Math Assessment Test (67%).
English language proficiency: Category 2 – English Studies 12 (67%) or equivalent.

International applicants are welcome to apply for this program. They must ensure they have a valid BCIT study permit prior to starting the program. Additionally, applicants who have completed post-secondary studies outside of Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand will require a comprehensive evaluation of their credentials by the International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES). Credential evaluation reports from other Canadian services may be considered, provided they include course-by-course evaluations and GPA calculations.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

Language Requirements

To apply for the Professional Accounting program at BCIT, which is an Advanced Diploma at the Undergraduate level, you must demonstrate proficiency in English. The following English Language Proficiency assessments are accepted for this program:

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Overall score 6.5, with no band less than 5.5
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test - 70 overall band score with no component below 60
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Overall score 60, with no skill score less than 60
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) - Overall score 86, with no section score less than 20
Duolingo English Test - 120 overall, with no integrated subscore less than 95
Cambridge Assessment English - BCIT ISEP Online test (Cambridge Linguaskill) - B2 First or C1 Advanced with a minimum overall score of 176

Test results must be dated no more than two years before the start date of the program you’re applying to.
