Academic Requirements

To apply for the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (Telecommunications and Networks Option) diploma program, applicants must meet the following entrance requirements:

All students must complete the first year of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology program before continuing to one of the two-year technologist diploma options.
International applicants: This program is available to international applicants. A valid BCIT study permit is required prior to starting the program. Students enrolled in this program must complete the mandatory work component to qualify for graduation. A co-op work permit is required prior to starting the work component.
Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.
Prerequisite courses:
- English Studies 12 (67%) or equivalent
- One of the following Math courses:
  - Pre-Calculus 12 (73%)
  - Other acceptable BC and Yukon courses
  - MATH 0001 – Technical Mathematics (73%)
- Chemistry 11 (67%)
- One of the following Physics courses:
  - Physics 12 (67%)
  - PHYS 0312 – Technology Entry Physics 2 (67%)

Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test - 70 overall band score with no component below 60
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Overall score 6.5 with no band less than 5.5
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Overall score 60 with no skill score less than 60
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) - Overall score 86 with no section score less than 20
