Program Overview

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas is a one-year Ontario College Certificate program designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for success in various health science programs. This program focuses on developing strong study habits while allowing students to earn post-secondary credits that can be transferred to other college programs. Throughout the course, students will explore their interests in the health science field and meet eligibility requirements for several Algonquin College programs, including Dental Assisting, Practical Nursing, and Paramedic training. It is important to note that while this program prepares students for further studies, it does not guarantee entry into any specific health or science program.

Program Structure

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas program is structured as follows:

  • Program Length: 1 Year
  • Full-time program running in two consecutive 14-week semesters.
  • Classes may be scheduled Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
  • Students will develop foundational knowledge in health sciences while enhancing their study skills.
  • Opportunities to explore various health science career paths.

This program is designed to prepare students for further academic pursuits in health science certificates or diplomas, rather than direct entry into the workforce. Students interested in advanced diplomas or university programs may consider the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program.
